ROBERT WESLEY CALDWELL

Robert “Wesley” Caldwell – Wesley Caldwell passed away on October 1, 2022, in Roanoke, Virginia. He was 90 years old. He was born on August 22, 1932, in Craig County, Virginia. He is preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Texanna Caldwell; his parents, Curtis, and Viola Caldwell; his sister Emogene, and her husband, Lawrence Stebar. He is survived by his children whom he dearly loved, Robert Tex Caldwell and wife Lisa; Timothy Lealand Caldwell and wife Suzee; Teri Caldwell Blankenship; and his grandchildren, Matthew Caldwell, Mindi Worrell, Austin Blankenship, and Adison Blankenship, and seven great-grandchildren. He lived most of his life in Roanoke, Virginia. After retirement, he moved to Johns Creek, Virginia where he enjoyed his companionship with his dear friend that he loved, Eilene Stebar. His family is appreciative of his niece, Jenny Stebar Bryant, for her care and support; and his thoughtful neighbor, Russell Tucker, for his loyal friendship. Wesley was blessed with a loving family and lifelong friends. During his lifetime, he spent many weekends riding motorcycles with his sons and friends; and taking fishing trips to the beach with his sons, father; and his brother-in-law, Bob Wright, and nephews Rob Wright and Marty Wright. In Roanoke, he enjoyed spending time with his neighbors Pete and Christine Bain; and Ted and Ruby Spradling. For many years, he and Texanna were active members of the Peters Creek Church of the Brethren where he helped build the educational building and served as a trustee. He had a lifelong, rewarding career with Breakell, Inc., where he held high-level positions in the company, including General Project Manager. He was well respected in the construction industry, where he made a lasting impression on the building landscape in the Roanoke Valley which can be seen in commercial buildings, hospitals, and schools; including the Roanoke City Elmwood Park, and the Salem Football Stadium, each displaying plaques bearing his name in recognition of his contribution. In later years, he enjoyed woodworking, art painting, and furniture designing. He made and sold custom furniture under his label, “Creative Wood Design”. Wesley was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend. He had a sense of community and responsibility to others. He has left this world a better place for being in it.
