Blanche Lucado Brickey

May 5, 1932 - December 8, 2021

Our beautiful and beloved mother Blanche Lucado Brickey, 89, was called to her heavenly home on Wednesday, December 8, 2021. She has been lovingly welcomed by her parents Earnest and Mattie Lucado, her loving husband Charles Brickey, son Joseph Brickey and great granddaughter Megan Bradley along with brothers and sisters. She is survived by sons Stephen Brickey (Lillie), Mark Brickey (Pam), daughters Connie Fuller (Gerald), Sharon Cole (Robby) and Karen McFalls (Chuck); 14 grandchildren Teri Brickey, Holly & Kelly Brickey, Sean Palmer, Kyle Caldwell, Lindsey & Tiffany Fuller, Jared Cole, Cody & Kayla Cole, Emily, Vanessa and Samantha Huffman, Chuck McFalls; 10 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; brothers-in-law Jimmy Brickey and Clarence Brickey (Debbie); sisters-in-law Margaret Elmore and Mary Huffman; many nieces and nephews. Blanche was a loving and dedicated wife for 61 years who raised her five children alone for 18 years while her husband served in the US Navy. She did so while away from home with little help and didn't have a drivers license. She always found a way to take care of her children's needs without complaint. She faced many challenges on her own while raising her children and she did it with grace. She was a selfless woman who always did for others without regard to her own needs and wants. She dearly loved her grandchildren and treasured every moment spent with them. She loved watching the Atlanta Braves, doing word search puzzles and eating sweets (all the time) and watching westerns on TV and loved visits from her granddog Jake. She loved her Lord and Savior and was a true believer of his word and loved hearing praises to him through Gospel music. Blanche had many friends and was a second Mom to many of her children's friends through the years. Visitation for family and friends will be Sunday, December 12, from 4-6PM, funeral services will be held Monday, December 13, 2021 at 1:00pm at Paitsel Funeral Home in New Castle with Pastor Raymond Christian officiating. Interment will follow at Brickey Cemetery in Craig County.
