Kenneth M. Myers "Samp", 92 of New Castle, passed away February 13, 2014. He retired from E.M. Abbott Lumber Co. He was a World War II veteran. His ship, the Cape San Juan was sunk by the Japanese in the Pacific. 70 lost their lives and 48 survived. He received a Purple Heart and 3 Bronze Stars. He served as a trustee of Huffman Memorial Park Cemetery for several years. He was preceded in death by his father Jesse Myers, Sr. and mother Ada R. Myers; wife Maggie A. Myers; brother Hezzie J. Myers; sister Dollie M. Jeffreys. He is survived by sister Iola Myers Carper; brother Jesse Myers, Jr.; 4 nephews; 3 nieces; several great-nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, February 17, 2014 at Paitsel Funeral Home with Dr. Ernie Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends 3-6 PM Sunday, February 16, 2014. In lieu of flowers, his request was to have donations made to the Huffman Memorial Park Cemetery, New Castle. www.paitselfh.com
