SAMUEL "BIG SAM" WAYNE HUFFMAN Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

In the cold and early hours of February 7, 2022, Samuel Wayne Huffman left his earthly home for his mansion in Heaven. With open arms, he was reunited with the love of his life, his sweet Melissa. Along with his wife, he was welcomed by his parents, Gary and Wilma Huffman; his uncle, Billy Huffman; his grandparents, William Huffman Sr. and Maude Cole; his uncle, James Horn; and his mother-in-law, Tina Gillespie. I’m sure it was quite the reunion. Though we were nowhere ready for him to leave this world, we take comfort in knowing he is no longer suffering from the pain we couldn’t take away. Sammy has seen the face of Jesus. If we use what he loved, derby’s, as a simile, then I have no doubt he proudly hopped in a big ol’ wagon with a #3 on the door and that big Sammy grin on his face, floored the gas pedal and blew the hinges off those pearly gates to get inside. Those left to cherish his memory are his precious daughters, Samantha Huffman, and Hannah McCray and her fiancé, Brandon Slusher, affectionately referred to by Sammy as his future ex son-in-law; his sisters, Tina Raines (Walt), Danielle Snider (Tim), and Lindsay Huffman; his sisters-in-law, Trina Bateman (Rich) and Carmen Gillespie; nephews and nieces, Daniel and Allison Raines, Dustin and Erin Snider, Chase and Will Huffman, Morgan Sherry and Patrick Bateman; his grandparents, whom he loved dearly, Buck and Ruby Gibson; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends and a special friend he had recently reconnected with, Laurie Johnston. A celebration of Sammy’s life will be held on Friday, February 11, 2022, at 7 p.m. at Paitsel Funeral Home in New Castle, with Pastor Jay Law officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 5 p.m. until the service hour at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Paitsel Funeral Home to assist with the arrangements.
