CAROLYN TINGLER DAY

Carolyn Tingler Day “Maw-maw,” 88, of New Castle, went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 2, 2022 surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Paint Bank, Virginia, on September 28, 1934. A lifetime New Castle resident, she was also a proud graduate of the New Castle High School Class of 1952. Carolyn worked many jobs in her life including Fibercom, Crown Store Equipment and G.E. She spent most of her career at G.E. where she would eventually retire in December 1999. On August 27, 1988, she married the love of her life, Harold T. Day. Early in their marriage they enjoyed dancing at the Moose Lodge and traveling to new places. She enjoyed spending as much time as she could with her family, especially her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. It was rare to find Carolyn alone, she always had company, often hanging out by the pool and enjoying a cup of coffee each morning. Her home was always filled with laughter and she is described by her loved ones as kind, thoughtful, caring, and embodied all the good in life. She was truly a sweet soul. Carolyn was a member of Grace Assembly of God and enjoyed attending each Sunday. She had many special friends at church and loved Pastor Loraine Taylor like her own. In addition to her husband of 29 years, Harold T. Day she is preceded in death by her mother and father, Mabel and Robert Tingler, first husband, Billy R. Wilson and son, Billy R. Wilson Jr. Carolyn is survived by her son Chuck Wilson (Cindy), daughter Angela Gardner (Tony), Karen Wilson; grandchildren, Kimberly Frank, Nikki Baer, Paul Wilson, Seth Turner, Laureen Radford, Chelsea Wilson, Sam Wilson, and Tonya Verity; great grandchildren, Caleb Hutton, Ellen Frank, Erick Frank, Ethan Frank, Austin Turner, Hannah Breitweiser, Aubrey Keffer, Charlie Sue Keffer, Josh Keffer, Mason Radford, and Lucas Radford; special friend Ruby Hutchison; her beloved cat, Socks Day, and many other beloved relatives and friends. The family thanks Carolyn’s caregivers, Amy Horton and Melissa Wrenn for their enduring kindness. Family and friends will be received at Grace Assembly of God, 5530 Catawba Valley Dr, Catawba, Monday, December 5, 2022 from 1 to 2 p.m., followed by funeral services at 2 p.m. conducted by Pastor Loraine Taylor. Interment will follow at Brickey Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Carolyn would like you to donate to Saint Judes Children Hospital. Carolyn was a lifetime donor and enjoyed receiving updates from the hospital.
