LOUIS ANGELO DEQUINO

Louis Angelo DeQuino, age 94, passed away peacefully at his home on August 21, 2026, with family members at his side. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 50 years, Elizabeth Greenway DeQuino, and his son, Bobby Lewis DeQuino. Louis is survived by his granddaughter, Summer Duncan (Ryne), and her children, Chloe, Marley, Lilly, and Anniston, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and a host of friends. Louis was born on September 26, 1931, to the late Louis and Maudie Shrader DeQuino. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Ed, Tony, Sam, and Johnny, and sisters, Martha and Rose. Mary Brown of Beckley, West Virginia, is his only remaining sibling. Louis had several nieces, Patsy Rhodes, Linda Rhodes, and Mary Williams, and nephew, Frank Rose (Brenna), who provided him assistance in order to maintain his independence in recent years. He looked forward to their visits and phone calls. These visits were filled with conversation, observations of nature outside the kitchen window, and reminiscing about the past. Nephew and fellow member of Lighthouse Baptist Church, Gene Kendall, often visited and kept Louis updated on the “news” around town. Louis retired from Salem Frame Company; however, he continued his life’s work as a stone mason for several years. He loved “working with rocks,” and the results of his talent can be seen not only at his home, but in homes and on properties throughout Craig County. Louis sustained a fall at home on July 6, 2026, which resulted in a brief stay at Richfield Rehabilitation Center in Salem, Virginia. One of his last wishes was to return to the house he built on Maggie Maw Lane. Family members Patsy, Frank, Brenna, and Mary were able to grant his wish by providing in-home care. Tammy Muncey was very helpful in providing support and guidance on how to best take care of Louis. Hospice services were provided by Carilion Clinic, with special thanks to Meghan P. and Mary for the excellent care given to Louis. The family would also like to acknowledge Louis’s neighbors and friends for the many visits, home-cooked food, fresh vegetables, and fellowship. A graveside funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at 11 a.m. at the Huffman Memorial Park, with Pastor Lee Looney officiating, per Louis’s request. Paitsel Funeral Home of New Castle is serving Mr. DeQuino’s family.
